      The Shopify interview process typically consists of several stages designed to assess your skills, experience, and cultural fit within the company. It was long and in-depth. I interviewed with multiple people and teams over a few months. The last interview was your life story.

      Technical Questions: For engineering and technical roles, you may encounter questions related to data structures, algorithms, and coding. Be prepared to write code or discuss your problem-solving approach. Example: "Implement a function to find the nth Fibonacci number." Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking: Questions that assess your ability to think critically and solve real-world problems. Example: "How would you optimize the checkout process on an e-commerce website?" Behavioral Questions: Questions about your past experiences, work style, and how you handle various situations. These questions are often used to gauge your cultural fit. Example: "Can you give an example of a challenging situation you faced at work and how you resolved it?" Cultural Fit and Values: Questions to assess your alignment with Shopify's culture and values. Example: "How do you approach collaboration and teamwork in a professional setting?" Role-Specific Questions: Questions tailored to the specific requirements of the position you're applying for. Example: "How would you approach designing a user interface for a new feature in an e-commerce platform?" Past Projects and Achievements: Questions about your previous projects and achievements to understand your contributions and impact. Example: "Can you tell us about a project where you had to overcome significant technical challenges?" Customer-Centric Questions: Given Shopify's focus on providing solutions for businesses, you might be asked questions related to customer-centric thinking.       Entretien

      Unlike any process I’ve had in my nearly 2 decades of experience. I was referred in and then sent to a recruiter who didn’t offer any advice on what to expect. She brought up compensation and only told me OTE. I always exceed my rev targets so I knew that wouldn’t be a problem but having been laid off, I wanted to know my base salary so I scheduled a 10 min meeting with her to get that info. She was condescending and acted like I didn’t listen the first time by saying “[My name] if you remember we discussed the OTE last time.” Totally gaslit me. I loved the people I spoke with though. They’re kind and funny and make the interviews conversational. I would’ve crushed this job but I think that simply because I only had a couple years of ecomm experience (even though I studied it like I was back in college for this), I wasn’t selected. Don’t listen to the “life story” advice. Just make sure you can connect the dots on your resume. Keep answers succinct & impactful because they have a huge candidate pool. This job is an 80/20 split, so the base pay (I assume) is pretty low and you have to sell to hit the 20% delta - which is a given these days, anyway. Love the company and the mission and bummed I didn’t get it but just had a bad taste in my mouth from the recruiter being hasty with me.

      I had a great interview process. Kind people, responsive recruiter, straightforward interview process! No overly complicated or trick questions, which I really appreciated. Definitely prepare for the most common questions (tell me about a time...) and have anecdotes ready for typical MSM/CSM questions.
