Entretien
My first interview was life story which was 30 min long. Although I've heard shopify prides in training their recruiters to listen my experience was quite poor. As I started telling her my life story she cut me off rudely and said due to the time limit of 30 min she will be moving on to parts of my life she thinks might be more interesting to her. I was quite annoyed but tried not to take it personally and kept going. She kept interrupting me the whole time and asking me questions and as I would attempt answer them she kept nodding her head in disinterest. Towards the end she asked me what my salary expectations were. I gave her my range and she nodded in disbelief. Then she acted very surprised that my current compensation also fell in the range I gave her and even made a comment about how surprised she was. Typically recruiters just mention the job range and leave it at that but not her. At this point I just felt my time was being wasted talking to her as she was literally devaluing my skills and experience. I hung in there and told her for the right job I'd be flexible with my range so she threw back a really low ball number. I truly lost any interest in further interviews with Shopify. I work for one of the big 5 companies and I was looking to switch as I had heard amazing things about Shopify. This experience left a very bitter taste in my mouth and I dont think I'll be interviewing with them for any more jobs. Huge waste of my time. Hope this was just a one off and that this recruiter goes through a proper training program.
