      Entretien

30-minute telephone interview then if they like you a link to 3 online assessments is sent. Verbal reasoning, Numerical reasoning, and an experience/preference/ personality assessment. These are timed assessments and not particularly hard but it is very doubtful you will get more than 3/4 of the questions finished because of time. Honestly, I feel it is perhaps a colossal waste of resources and time. If it were me I would judge an instructional designer on their proficiency in a project assigned, or based on the answers to some well thought out questions. Waiting on the results, so we will see how it all goes.

J'ai postulé via un recruteur. Le processus a pris 5 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez Capital One (Richmond, VA)

      Entretien

Was contacted by Capital One and asked to apply for a role. Job description changed multiple times throughout the course of the lengthy interview process. They asked me to apply for another role and at the end of another lengthy interview process, I was informed the position was being shifted to a different city. Too much swirl!

One word describes this process - stringent, and not necessarily in a good way. While I can appreciate that this company hires top tier people, I firmly believe Capital One is missing out on a great amount of high-performing, high potential candidates. There are 4 steps - phone screen, testing, phone interview, and onsite interview. Of these, I think the testing is the part that really eliminates potentially good candidates. The testing is designed to determine a candidate's success level within their environment; however, the way the questions are worded (specifically for the verbal assessment), they are designed to trip you up. Think of it like an ACT or SAT test on steroids. Unfortunately, I didn't make it past the testing stage, and there are no exceptions. If you don't pass that, you're done. Personally, I am anti-assessment as a tool used in the selection process. I don't feel it adequately captures a person's ability to flex and adapt in a job or the work environment. If a company lets a tool make their decisions, then they certainly aren't deserving of the candidates they let slip through that process.

Applied online, contacted by a recruiter for a phone screening. Following that, had a phone interview with the hiring manager. Next was a series of SAT like, online assessments, which deemed me "not a match" so that was it. Too bad too, because the test had NOTHING to do with my actual role, and I believe I could have been pretty awesome there. Oh well.
