It was a great experience meeting leadership and technical folks. HR did a great job of communicating through the entire interview process. It started with a walk in to one of the open house leading to an online test. I cleared the online test and was brought onsite for 2 rounds of behavioral interview and 2 technical screens. Finally, discussion with HR on pay and benefits. Overall a smooth process!

Bizaare process. Had initial phone conversation with prospective team leader, got on like a house on fire and agreed best thing to do would be to arrange a face to face meet. Was then asked to do a series of online tests first, which I was happy to do. First part was a personality test, second part was a verbal reasoning test, third part was some maths. None of the tests had any relevance to the position that was in discussion. Later that day I was advised I had failed, and therefore could not progress any further. This was by way of a short, 3 line email that was hardly representative of a global organisation such as Capital One like to portray themselves as. Clarification has been requested as to what specifically I failed on, but a week later I have yet to receive a response. Basically they wasted my time and prejudged me according to a set series of questions, without giving me the opportunity to showcase my talents in person. Two days later I had a face to face interview with a different company who were offering a similar role with a higher salary, and they snapped me up within 2 hours of the interview. Advice to Capital One - make the tests optional, or at least don't dismiss potential employees just because they might not fit your "ideal" candidate profile. Some people work better in a face to face meeting than doing a series of online tests!
