I'm an internal candidate (contractor) who was referred by a full time employee. After submitting my application, the recruiter reached out to set up a call. She didn't seem prepared and didn't sound like she knew what she was doing, and I was disappointed to feel that outside applicants might experience this kind of introduction to the company. I was then asked to meet with the hiring manager in person, since I was already in the office, which was a positive experience. I was told that it would take a few weeks to get through the first round of interviews but that I would be contacted for the next round. After a few weeks, I circled back with the recruiter to find out the next steps, but it took her 7 days to respond. When she did, she let me know that they moved forward with another candidate. I'm overall pretty confused and concerned about the recruiting experience here, especially as an internal candidate.

I met a recruiter at an event. I mentioned I studied creative writing and she said she was looking for some internships to fill for related majors. I emailed the recruiter later, sent my resume and a writing sample. I was contacted for a Skype interview then got an offer.
