Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented CPA Senior Tax Manager to join our public practice team.
The role includes reviewing complex tax files, advising on planning opportunities, supporting partners on transactions and reorganizations, mentoring staff and helping maintain the firm’s tax quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
· Assist with reorganizations, estate and succession planning, remuneration planning and owner-manager tax matters
· Work directly with partners and clients on tax projects. Including working directly with lawyers, bankers and other professional advisors
- Review T1, T2, T3, and related tax filings, elections and various information returns
- Identify and recommend tax planning opportunities for our clients
- Assist with tax planning, structuring, and due diligence for the purchase and sale of private companies, including share and asset transactions
- Research and analyze tax issues and prepare clear written advice for clients and our staff
- Support CRA audits, reviews and notice of objections as required and other requests from other regulatory bodies
- Mentor and develop tax knowledge for accounting staff, managers and partners
- Respond to client inquiries and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner
- Ensure deadlines are met during peak and non-peak periods
- Help develop internal tax processes, templates and training materials
Qualifications & Requirements
- CPA designation (Canada) and currently in good standing
- Completion of the CPA In-Depth Tax Course
- 8+ years of Canadian tax experience with strong private company tax exposure. Preference will be given to candidates with at least 3+ years of experience as a tax manager
· Experience with owner-managed businesses, professional corporations, trusts, and estate planning
- Extensive experience advising on and implementing complex reorganizations for private corporations and owner-managed groups
- Ability to review complex files and communicate tax advice clearly to staff and clients
- Experience dealing with indirect taxes (GST, PST, PTT, EHT, etc.)
- Experience supervising and mentoring staff
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and client service skills
- Ability to manage multiple engagements and meet tight deadlines
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Strong knowledge of working with Taxprep (Cloud version preferred), Caseware and previous experience with ifirm would be an asset

Pay: $150,000.00-$175,000.00 per year
