      Entretien

Applied online with an easy online form, had a telephone interview which was mostly competency based - just went through the competencies listed on the job description and asked general questions 'Why Wayfair' etc. Shortly after I was invited for a face to face interview at the office in Angel. I was told there'd be 3 people interviewing me and I was given their names. There's no reception to welcome you and it's a little confusing where you're supposed to go - you have to call the people yourself on the phone in the waiting area. When I arrived only one person I was told about was there and someone else who worked in the Berlin office interviewed me. The interview lasted about an hour and a half and was incredibly intense. The interviewers were very cold, unwelcoming and unresponsive to answers I gave. The questions were tough and not at all what I was expecting, the interview was led by the Berlin office guy and not the woman who I would be working with which I thought was odd. The HR lady who I did the phone interview with then called me 4 days later to tell me I was unsuccessful and that the Berlin office man had issues with a question I answered related to my current role's KPIs (we didn't have them). So although the feedback was helpful and detailed, it was odd that I didn't get the job based on something that didn't exist. I assume they thought I was lying

Entered the office off The Strand. I was taken into a glass office and as soon as I sat down I was given a piece of paper with mathematical questions and analysis. I was interviewed by a man and a woman with whom I would be working with on a team. I really liked them and I think they enjoyed my sense of humour too! Then the bad part was being interviewed by an American woman who kept glancing at my CV and saying 'Hmmmm I'm just trying to think of what to ask you." 'What can you tell me?' She was just vague and I had no idea what to go on about as she had no specific questions. It seemed that studying in the top Universities of the world gives interviewers like her a complex. It was a very uncomfortable experience & I was told I did not talk enough about my experience as a buyer. I was very disappointed by the lack of interest by the interviewer who kept looking around the room clueless. Wayfair America is probably a great place to work for, but not the London one. I have the most incredible experience of travelling to fashion fairs around the world. What more experience do you want? I complained to the Wayfair American team, but nothing has even been done. I was asked to be considered for the Assistant Buyer role too but they lied and said it had been filled, when new adverts had been put up online. I've studied at Harvard, LSE, Stanford and Central St Martins. If you think that's not good enough and having proved myself by being able to complete fashion buys all over the world - then good luck to you Wayfair. They keep posting vides of work culture and 'employing the best' but that American interviewer was lazy and had nothing to ask or say. If she didn't want to interview me, she shouldn't have. In retrospect, I should have just walked out.
