I recently interviewed for a Senior DevOps Engineer position at RBC and was thoroughly disappointed with the experience.
The interview process felt more like a test of my ability to navigate tricky and convoluted questions rather than an assessment of my actual skills and experience. Instead of engaging in meaningful discussions about my past work or how I could contribute to the team, the interviewers seemed more focused on gotcha questions designed to trip me up. This created an atmosphere of stress and frustration, making it difficult to showcase my expertise.
Additionally, the interviewers lacked clarity in their questions, often providing vague scenarios that seemed irrelevant to the role. It felt as though they were more interested in finding fault than evaluating my qualifications. This approach not only reflects poorly on RBC's hiring practices but also raises concerns about the team's culture and values.
I walked away from the interview feeling undervalued and discouraged. I would recommend prospective candidates to be prepared for an unnecessarily challenging interview process that may not accurately reflect the skills required for the position. Overall, my experience was far from what I expected from such a reputable organization.
