J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 6 mois. J'ai passé un entretien chez RBC (Montréal, QC) en janv. 2015

      Entretien

I was reluctant to write a review of my experience at RBC but I kept thinking about it, so here are all the facts. I applied to RBC in a disability program and the process took over 6 months. Mostly I was just waiting. At first, they left me a voice mail. At the end of the voice mail, they didn't hang up properly so my voice mail recorded their conversation more than it should. They were discussing the next disabled candidate profile to be called. The woman had 25 years of experience working at TD and other major banks but she had a gap in her resume for about 6 years. They rejected her profile because, according to the recorded voice mail, she didn't work for 6 years and she is too old to fit in the organization and adapt to it. I was thinking RBC claimed that they will help the disabled who is at disadvantage to find work, but no! If you're person who didn't work for 6 years whereas because of your handicap or that you had to take care of your family, they won't even consider calling you! That was my first clue! I should have known. I then proceed with their hiring process because I really needed to work. I had a brief phone interview, and then two face-to-face interviews, one with HR and one with Hiring Managers. The funny thing I found out is normal candidates and other candidates only had a 45 minute interview and one face-to-face interview. Why did they make it harder for me? I don't know. The first phase of the interview was promising to me. I thought it would go well after that. But when I met the hiring managers, it seemed to me there was something wrong from the start. One of them was sitting crossed-legs and her body language showed a closed-mind attitude before even shaking my hand. I don't think it's because of my physics. I look quite pleasant and well dressed. After the interview, they said they would make their decision in 3 days. 3 days passed: no answer. It turns out; they didn't pick me. But they didn't want to contact me neither. They make me wait 2 weeks! Because I was perhaps the backup. At least, I know they wanted that their chosen candidate hiring process were completed before announcing to the ones who didn't make it -because God forbid, we're backups! They told me that the job posting was announced internally and externally, and that they took a lot of internal candidates. And that also I didn't answer questions well enough! That were their excuse. And according to this website, internal candidates don't even get to be interviewed. They get promoted from within. So much for fairness and helping those who are handicapped. So much for the disabled program who made you exposing to them all of your disabilities, but that will lead you to nowhere. Because forget about your human rights (like they claimed that's what they're protecting), they expect you to do the same work as normal people and they expect you to perform the same as everyone else, if not above. I asked their HR what's the disabled program for, she couldn't even answer me. Since I desperately need a job, they told me to apply to their other positions within the bank, so I did. But then I stopped when I talked to one of their "young" arrogant HR personnel. She saw that I was a Bookkeeper in the past at Concordia, she asked me "so you were working in a library before, what did you do there? Take care of books and stuffs?" I become angry when I heard that ignorant, clueless, uneducated, stupid HR person don't even know what Bookkeeper do and she was interviewing me? Then I knew that she could never measure up my true potential. RBC is just another corporation whom employees are considered values and potential candidates are giving opportunities. That's just false advertisement, you need to have what they like for them to hire you and value you. Otherwise, you're just like me and that other disabled lady who had 25 years of experience in the banking industry products that are to be tossed around.

It wasnt too bad. pretty entry level. salary not really negotiable. If you come in prepared with expectations around the roll based off of the job description, its pretty standard.
