J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 2 mois. J'ai passé un entretien chez PlayStation (San Francisco, CA) en juill. 2018
Entretien
I applied online. Heard back from HR in 2 weeks. Got a phone interview scheduled a month later, because the hiring manager was on vacation. 1 week later was contacted about an in-person later. In person interview was then scheduled. There were 5 rounds with (Sr UX Researchers, Head of UX Design and Hiring Manager). The fifth round was an additional phone interview.
The process was smooth, except I did like one thing.
One interviewer had given me a scenario based question, and when I did not give them the answer they wanted, they said, "That was easy. I'm surprised you didn't get that". Granted even if the question is easy to their standards, saying this makes candidate even more nervous, uneasy, and self-conscious. Interviews are already nerve-racking enough, so please try not to do this for future candidates. A little surprised that UX Researchers did not know this since they interview people for their jobs and are trained to not intimidate their interviewees. The same interviewer asked only this one question and decided to use the majority of this round to discuss their individual career path, kids' career path, and a mutual connection that we had. I had wished they had taken more time to discuss me and my qualifications and interest in the role.
Everyone has a different style of interviewing but felt a little unprofessional. I feel like I didn't get enough of a chance to talk much about myself and my qualifications in this particular round.
The other 3 interviewers were easy-going and warm. They did not ask me to do a portfolio presentation, which I found to be unusual.
Accommodations and travel assistance were provided and exceeded my expectations.
Got through 2 stages. First was a phone call with the recruiter highlighting UXR experience and the second was with a UXR manager. Process took about 2-weeks and an additional 2-weeks to hear the outcome.
Questions d'entretien [1]
Question 1
- UXR background
- Interest in games UR
- How would you design a research study?
- How would you collaborate with analytics?
I was ghosted after several interviews and tens of hours of my life spent in interviews and take home tasks. I had to write a full presentation on usability issues for one game, presented it to the hiring manager and a senior person, and never heard back. This was after a first take home task that was also quite complex and long to fill in.
The whole process also took almost 2 months from start to finish, only to be ghosted
Zero respect for the candidates' time
Questions d'entretien [3]
Question 1
What are your three all-time favourite games, and why – in no more than 100 words per game?

The interview was 1 hour over the phone with the hiring manager. They asked about background, recent projects, history with gaming (because it was a Games Research position), and three hypothetical scenarios.
Your development team has asked you to collect more feedback. You notice that they have not implemented some of your suggestions from the previous round of feedback. What would you say and do?
