I applied for the job online. Received an e-mail about 4 days later asking to set up a phone interview. Phone interview lasted 10 minutes. Asked 2 general questions (why nordstrom? why this specific dept?) then 4 situatuional./STAR questions. then about availability and store preference. Interviewer said they loved speaking to me and would pass me on to an in-store interview. They wanted me to come in the next day, but I ended up scheduling it for the next week. Went in and waited for about 20 minutes in the waiting area while about 8 other women showed up. We all sat and talk until the HR manager came out and told us all to follow her. Went into a conference room where the HR manager along with each department manager and their assistants waited. HR manager explained what Nordstrom was about and asked if we knew what Nordstrom's #1 goal was (CUSTOMER SERVICE)! Dept. Managers introduced themselves, and then one by one we had to introduce ourselves and tell everyone a little about ourselves. Then the Dept Managers left the room for about 3 minutes and came back and called each one of our names to be interviewed by a different dept manager (or the same one). i dont know if they interviewed us randomly, or if each dept mgr called dibbs for who they wanted to interview. I interviewed with the dept manager and her assistant, which was a really pleasant experience. they made me feel comfortable and excited about the position. many situational/STAR questions were asked. she gave me a lot of knowledge about the department store. then we went to the sales floor and did a mock sale. waited about 5 minutes and then had a SECOND interview with the store manager. very stern guy, but i was still really confident. he asked questions about previous job and basically looking to see if i was reliable and able to do this job. he then asked me to sell him something in the room. they thanked me for coming and the assistant mgr told me i would be hearing from them really soon. That was yesterday so Im hoping to hear back from them soon!

Question 1
Tell us about a time you had difficulty and how you overcame? A time you went above and beyond? A time you had to work in a team? A time you had to do something a supervisor/coworker told you to? A time you had to exceed expectations? A time you had to meet a specific goal? A time you felt challenged? A few more questions but I can't remember.
It was a good interview experience. The managers were straight forward and nice throughout the whole process. The questions were directly related to the role. They were transparent about the role and expectations.

it was a really chill and easy interview, the manager was very warm and friendly and none of the questions were too difficult. there was a sale practice section where you have to pretend to sell an item to a customer, but it wasn't too difficult and the manager gave me some guidance and clarification on the practice scenarios. other questions included things along the lines of how you deal with competition, conflict, unhappy customers, teamwork, as well as availability
mock sale questions: what features of this item would you point out to the customer? what concerns or hesitations might the customer have about this item and how would you help them decide? after the customer decides they want the item, how would you close the sale?

Extremely easy. I looked the part and got the job. My manager called me the same day to welcome me to the team. They like for their employees to have their own personal style that’s appropriate and makes others want to buy.
