Applied online; got a phone interview for in-person interview after 2 days. I went early for in-person interview 15 minutes. I was still waiting that the scheduled time passed 15 minutes, so the total time that I waited was 30 minutes. The next candidate came and the store assistant manager took her to the floor to look around. The manager asked me who I should interview with. I said "I don't know." because no one told me that. Finally she took me to a room for the interview and explained that the department manager was having a meeting. She asked related questions based on the position that I applied. At the end, she didn't ask me if I had any question. After 5 days, I got a voice message from the manager that she would like to have a follow up interview with me. I called back right after I checked the message. When I spoke to her, she changed her mind. She said she decided to pick the other candidate. What??? Why you give me a chance and then take it away? I really felt disappointed about Nordstorm's management team. Let me waited for that long for the in-person interview and, then seemed like giving me a chance to work and took it away.

The interview took place during a hiring day. To begin, the email said to go to a different place in the building than the final location was. So, it seems they didn't double check the automated email they sent out to participants. Then, when I got there, they tried to discourage me from applying to a Stock role and asked me to interview for positions in Sales instead, stating there was a line ahead of me, so I shouldn't bother. When I finally did get an interview (for a sales position that paid well below my expected hourly wage), the interviewer seemed disinterested in anything I had to say. I withdrew my application. I don't recommend the effort especially at a wage that won't pay the bills without depending on commission. At that point, is it really the company paying you or the customer? No matter the state of the economy, there's no way, no how employees should be forced in a position in which they're not paid their worth.

Very easy, respectful. They made it seem like they really care, even bringing the Building manager in to talk to us. I thought it was a very positive interview process
