On campus technical interview consisting of some resume review and then a coding question.
I was then flown out to Seattle for onsite interview.
I had four 1 hour onsite interviews interrupted in the middle by a lunch interview.
My first interviewer asked me about my background, what parts of computer science and the technology industry interest me, and then asked me to create design requirements for a particular project.
My second interview was mostly behavioral and I was asked about different projects that I had worked on in school or internships.
My third interviewer asked to design a solution to the product he worked on. This was very intimidating but he helped me through it. I was also asked some random technical questions that I had to think up an answer on the spot (sort of similar to "how many piano tuners in NYC but more CS focused).
My fourth interviewer asked me some basic questions about the program manager role and some behavioral questions. This interview only lasted 30 minutes and the interviewer was texting and typing throughout so I thought that I had done poorly on the previous interview and he was there because he had to be.
The interviewers are all from the same group and chat in between interviews about you. You do not get to choose the group you interview for and I learned which group I was interviewing the day of. This can be somewhat intimidating and when I left MSFT I thought that I had done very poorly. Obviously not the case!

Not a great experience with interviews taking 1 month to complete. Despite ongoing communication, the role did not move forward, reportedly due to approval constraints. The overall experience highlights a gap in aligning internal approvals before progressing candidates to advanced stages.
Clearer communication and better alignment internally would improve the candidate experience

The interview process is grueling and I get why people do it but its more awareness, know that you'll spend an entire day and meet several people, so it's important to be mentally and physically prepared. Eat a good breakfast but not heavy stay hydrated. This was just for a PM role it's their standard process I imagine executive level is another thing altogether

Question 1
Tell me about a time you didn't agree with someone who was a stakeholder on your project and how did you handle that?
Very smooth, thoughtful interview process. It showed the recruiter really cared what I had to contribute and asked great followup clarifying questions. Would definitely recommend everyone try an interview with them even if it doesn't pan out.
