I was recommended directly to a hiring manager by a current employee for the position. Shortly after applying online my application was short listed and I received a phone call from the hiring manager asking me about my technical experience. I briefly explained that I was self taught and had taken on IT roles with my previous employer.
I was asked if I had experience with servers and if I felt comfortable racking servers. I was asked if I felt comfortable backing up and imaging computers. I was asked if I had reliable transportation, if I was opposed to traveling out of state, and what my salary requirements were. I was told that I had been hired and it took about a month to process the application. A few weeks later I got a computer delivered to my home and a RIM (blackberry).
