I was contacted by a recruiter while employed at my previous employer about this role. They asked me to apply online after we completed the phone screen. After this first step /phone screen by recruiter, I had a 1:1 interview over the phone with the hiring manager which was an hour long. The next step was an in-person interview with 5 employees which are made up of team members, peers on other product, and cross-functional team leaders that you would be interacting with in your role. Finally, the last step is to meet with the hiring managers VP on a face to face 1:1 interview. This last step is really meant to make sure that an exec of the company has vetted the hiring decision and also sees you as a good fit for the org, and can also see you growing your career in the company (vs just being able to perform the duties of the role at hand).

After passing the HR screening call, I had an interview with the hiring manager, followed by a few panel interviews before the company made their decision. The interview process was pretty standard, but the program manager leading the interview kicked things off by reading out a list of questions for me to tackle one by one. He said it was to give me enough time to think about each one upfront. The proposed 45-minute interview slot wouldn't cut it for all the questions, so we extended it on the spot to 1 hour. As I started answering his questions, he kept interrupting me. And when I tried to clarify something about tech debt, he got a bit defensive and ended up giving me a bit of a lecture on my answer. The entire interview felt more like an interrogation than a dialogue.

I applied online on the ea website. I heard from two EA studios (a couple months apart). In both cases, the recruiter emailed me looking to start the interview process. In both cases, the recruiter promptly "ghosted" me after that email. I experienced the same with a third ea studio, but this time with an outsourced recruiter and not someone in HR. I can only come to the conclusion that this is common working culture there - an extreme lack of empathy and respect. I mean it is a big brand, almost everyone in the industry wants to work here. They can afford to be picky about applicants, even in reasonably senior roles. This translates to a lack of respect towards applicants.
