      Entretien pour Technical Writer

      Candidature

J'ai postulé via une agence de recrutement. Le processus a pris 3 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez DISH en juill. 2021

      Entretien

I did a remote interview was with two managers, whom I could barely hear through the call. I had to resort to using subtitles in order to understand them. Both seemed knowledgeable and friendly. Afterwards I was instructed to complete two screening tests, both of which were irrelevant to the job and had very problematic interfaces, and which took over an hour to do, not including a practice test. The assessment was an HR test that asked me to drag and drop icons to book rooms, schedule employees, draw budget charts and color in abstract geometric patterns to finish a sequence, none of which could be done effectively on a trackpad. The personality test presented three generic statements and asked me to select “which statement describes you the most.” Once selected, it would ask me to pick which of the remaining two statements “describes you best.” This question repeated itself about 100 times, causing me to waste fifteen minutes rushing through the test to select generic (and oft-repeated) statements to describe myself. After experiencing technical issues with the assessment test, I was told they would allow me to re-test if I explained my problems. I was so frustrated with the tests that I instead declined.

J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 2 mois. J'ai passé un entretien chez DISH (Denver, CO) en mai 2018

      Entretien

I applied online. Process started with an HR Phone Screening followed by an online personality test and aptitude test. There was a second phone screen with the hiring manager after which I was invited for an on-site. The on-site involved another hour of testing followed by a marathon three hours of interviews with four other people (I was only told about three of the people, and was not informed ahead of time of what their relationship to the role was, so directed prep was pretty much impossible). When it came time for the sit-downs, I had a sense that there was not much organization. The interviewers didn't seem very prepared. They also didn't have my resume, and people kept having trouble figuring out what conference room I was in. Nevertheless, the interviews themselves were fairly normal, and the people were easy to talk to. I followed up after the time period I was given for the decision process and (after no response for two days) was told to consider references for the next step of the hiring process and to expect more information in a few days. Again, the discussed time frame came and went, and I followed up again. Again, I got no response for several days. With persistence, I finally got a general "thank you for your time" rejection form letter. The entire process felt like a very large investment of time and emotional energy, and the general lack of communication or care at the last stages was frustrating enough that I would probably not apply to this place again.
