First, the initial call with recruiter was moved twice. But that is understandable and I didn’t pay that much attention to it. But then the impression I’ve got is that the recruiter was not competent, didn’t know what they are looking for - the questions were so abstract, like reading from the list, “how familiar are you with relative/absolute positioning?”, “how familiar you are with HTML?” - what do you expect to hear from the candidate?? “Yes, I am familiar, I feel comfortable with that”??
Alright. Then, since my previous experience is in the B2B company, that per se doesn’t have a million of daily users, the recruiter had “to check with someone else if they can proceed with the next steps, because at Booking.com they are handling millions of users per day”. Fair enough. But it is not a backend position for me to handle a huge load of million of requests, it is a frontend position, so ask something more relevant regarding my knowledge and expertise. So, recruiter promised to check with someone and get back to me in 1-2 days. Since that moment almost a month passed - never heard back. To send a template email “Sorry, we will not be moving your application forward” takes 1 minute, show some respect to your candidates!
Very disappointed.
