Entretien
The interview held on phone and conducted by another IT Manager. I felt like I did well, however I think I should work on the takeaway to prepare in a better way.
Below areas were covered:
- behavioral questions (including managerial) related to leadership principles
- Technical (networking, linux and microsoft)

1- tell me a time when you go above and beyond to help your customer
2- co-worker handling struggling with difficult customer issue and you stepped in to help him out
3- three core technical areas as scope:
- General networking
- General linux
- General microsoft
Networking
4- difference between switch and router
5- what is VLAN? And is it used?
6- Why is default gateway important for a machine?
7- what is DNS? What used it for? What are some of the records you know about
Linux
8- command to list/show all the files in the current directory
9- command to get the server name, while you are working remotely
10- command to display the content of a file
11- difference between su and sudo?
Microsoft
12- tell me about active directory. What’s the use for? What kind of thing you find on it
13- What is a Group policy and example
14- A user calls up and says hey I am connected to Wifi and trying to reach google.com and I can’t bring the website. You need to diagnose the issue, first of all figure out the IP address of the windows machine. Walk me through how you identify the IP address?
15- The IP address of the machine is like xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx. What you now know about that machine?
16- A user calls up and says that he is sitting next to the network printer and everytime I try to print, nothing comes out. How do you troubleshoot this issue?
Management
17- Can you tell me the best person you ever hired, what you saw in him and how their career progressed.
18- tell me a time with an individual or a case, you had worked somebody to performance improvement plan
Il processo di selezione per la posizione di IT Manager in Amazon è stato intenso, professionale e ben organizzato. Dopo aver inviato la candidatura online, sono stato contattato da un recruiter entro due settimane per un primo colloquio conoscitivo. In questa fase si è parlato molto dei Leadership Principles di Amazon e di come le mie esperienze pregresse potessero rifletterli.
Successivamente ho sostenuto un colloquio tecnico con un IT Manager. Le domande vertevano sulla gestione dell'infrastruttura IT, il monitoraggio dei sistemi, la risposta agli incidenti e la leadership tecnica all'interno di team distribuiti.
L’ultima fase è stata un loop di colloqui (virtuali), dove ho parlato con 4 diversi interlocutori tra manager e stakeholder tecnici. Qui si sono concentrati soprattutto su casi pratici (tipo STAR) e situazioni di leadership, problem solving, gestione delle priorità e capacità di adattamento in ambienti in rapida evoluzione.
Nel complesso, è stata un’esperienza stimolante che mi ha permesso di comprendere meglio le aspettative di Amazon e il suo approccio orientato alla cultura aziendale. Consiglio a chiunque stia affrontando questo percorso di prepararsi bene sui Leadership Principles, di usare esempi concreti e di essere pronto a spiegare decisioni tecniche e manageriali in modo dettagliato.
It was thorough with multiple interviews involving multiple HR Reps. It wasn't stressful though compared to other IT job interviews. The job wasn't for me, but I recommend all to go for it.

Entretien
Most of the questions are sent by your recruiter to prepare. Amazon is big on their leadership principles. Each question they ask is linked to a Leadership Principle if you review each of them and structure your answers to incorporate these then you should be good.
