Job Summary
Skye Chase Estate Winery is seeking an enthusiastic and personable part-time Bartender to join our dynamic hospitality team. The ideal candidate will excel in creating a welcoming environment for guests, efficiently serving beverages, and maintaining high standards of food safety and customer service. This role offers an opportunity to showcase your hospitality skills while working in a lively and fast-paced setting. Prior restaurant experience and familiarity with POS systems are preferred, but we value a positive attitude and strong time management skills above all. The Bartender will be responsible for serving drinks responsibly, handling cash transactions accurately, and ensuring guests have an enjoyable experience.

Duties

• Greeting all guests with a warm and welcoming greeting.
• Educating oneself on Skye Chase, our wines and food offerings a must.
• Assist in preparing and maintaining a creative wine cocktail and mocktail menu.
• Engage with the customers to recommend drinks based on preferences.
• Excellent time management skills to handle multiple orders efficiently during busy hours.
• Maintain a clean and organized bar area.
• Assist in managing inventory of all packaged Wine, Beer, and Non-Alcoholic Beverages, bar supplies and ingredients, notifying the Retail Sales & Hospitality Manager of any shortages in a timely manner.
• Knowledge of POS Simplicity - would be an asset.
• Ability to process payment and responsible for cash float.
• Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely food service for bar customers.
• Knowledgeable about the menu, all our experiences, upcoming events and all things wine club.
• Ensuring all guests leave with the feeling that their visit to our winery was the highlight of their stay in Central Elgin and that they would return and/or recommend our winery.
• Interact with customers to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels - sharing insights with management to continuously improve the guest experience and bar operations.
• Compliance with all safety regulations of assigned tasks and ensure a clean and safe working environment.
• Monitor guest consumption to promote responsible drinking practices.
• Uphold food industry standards related to serving, food safety, and hospitality experience.

Requirements

• Professional appearance and demeanor.
• Experience in a fast paced, fluid environment, where every day is different and can adapt to last minute changes.
• 1-2 years previous experience working as a bartender.
• Deliver our Skye Chase wine in a professional, caring and elevated manner.
• Creative, passionate and innovative in creating, preparing and garnishing wine cocktails and mocktail beverages.
• Basic Math Skills for measuring ingredients in preparation of cocktails & mocktail beverages.
• SMART SERVE Certified - comfortable checking ID and monitoring alcohol consumption.
• Wine education (WSET of similar) is an asset but not required.
• Tracking beverage inventory - reporting low stock level and assisting with ordering supplies.
• Strong knowledge of the local area.
• Must possess excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact with diverse clientele.
• Must be computer literate.
• The preferred candidate will have previous experience with POS Simplicity or similar system and Moneris payment processor.
• Must be committed to a responsible approach with integrity and an unwavering ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion.

Working Conditions

• Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Stand or walk for an extended period or for an entire shift.
• Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting and pulling.
• Working inside and outside, pending reservations.
• Required to work long periods of time without rest, continuously standing, walking (including stairs) and occasionally lifting up to 40lbs.
• Willing to work both indoors and outdoors - as required.
• Willing to work a variety of different shifts - weekdays, weekends, holidays and evenings.
