Avantages
The pros are having a flexible schedule, setting my own hours to a certain extent ( you have to work around the time difference) and being able to work at home on my computer. I have just started and like it so far. The company offers lots of training and professional development opportunities ( again from the comfort of home). They also offer encouragement, and one-one mentoring, if needed. Everyone that I have dealt with in the company has been kind and respectful, so far. There is also instant help available if technical issues arise. That is a major plus! There are large online communities of other vipkid teachers to talk to and get ideas from. The lesson plans are created for you and the online format is easy to use. It takes a while to get hired and to build up a stream of students, I do not have many classes booked yet, but I am being patient because many teachers tell me about the joys and benefits of the job, once you get off the ground. Also, did I tell you the students are adorable?
Inconvénients
One con is the long hiring process; you have to pass through some stages and do lessons in front of an adult, who is pretending to be a child. Also, there is some prep time involved, as you are expected to have reward systems and props ready to encourage the students. But, that can be fun if you enjoy being creative and hanging out at the Dollar Store.
