Did you know Novolex operates two film recycling facilities: North Vernon, IN and Shawano, WI? Our North Vernon, IN recycling facility processes post-consumer film from retail bags collected at store drop-off as well as HDPE plastic film from dry cleaning, produce, newspapers, paper towel wrappers and other over-wraps, resealable bags and more. In 2020, a new water treatment system was installed to increase capacity for the recycling of plastic retail bags and other films collected via store drop-off programs. And, in 2022, Novolex announced a $10 million investment in North Vernon to increase recycling capacity. With this investment, Novolex expects to double the volume of PCR PE films that is recycled in North Vernon by the end of 2024.

Elizabeth Salinas, our safety coordinator at the Duro plant in Brownsville, TX, was nominated as a #safetysteward for #nationalsafetymonth for making sure that every employee goes home safe every day. Lesly Zavala, daughter of Augustin Zavala from our Alsip, IL plant, is one of the recipients of our Chairman’s Scholarship award 🎓 . Lesly will be eligible to receive $5,000 annually for up to four years to put towards her post-secondary education where she is currently attending Saint Xavier University as a double major in Political Science and International Relations and is working towards a career in Human Rights.
