“Bridging differences through the power of conversation.” That was the mission at MHA this week. For Race Equality Week (2-8 Feb), we did not just talk about change, we practised it. Through our ‘Beyond the Surface’ challenge, our teams explored: 👂 Active listening, focusing on intent and identity 😄 Shared joy, connecting through food and music 🙌 Heritage, recognising the values that shape us Inclusion is not a one-week event. It is a daily commitment to making sure everyone in our community feels heard and valued. At MHA, equality, diversity and inclusion sit at the heart of who we are, shaping our culture and the care we provide.
We spoke with Karina as part of MHA’s new initiative aiming to shine a spotlight on their senior care assistants and what led them to develop into these roles.
The duo are often working alongside each other but ensure they keep their work/home life separate, including any arguments 😄
Gemma's role at MHA Glen Rosa allows her to spread her time between working and looking after her toddler.

The home was struggling to fill the vacancy which led to Sarah filling in to help with activities, and after a conversation with the home manager, she decided to apply for the role.
Tyler homes to progress at the home and work as a full time chef/cook.
Alice splits her time at the home between four roles, a domestic assistant, a kitchen assistant, volunteers as an admin assistant and activities co-ordinator.

Courtney joined MHA Norwood in May 2023, progressing into her current role as senior care assistant in July 2024 and has just begun her Level 4 Adult Social Care qualification.
