The interview process was very frustrating as it spanned across nearly a month and a half. It was a 5-step process, in the beginning I was assessed by a recruiter and was communicating with her, everything was very positive. HireVue was used - which is regularly what is used and I have no issue using it was very clear on how to complete your self recorded interview. My issue was once it came to the interview with two of the eBay representatives I was told I had been sucessful up to this point and that my experience speaks for itself. During this entire process they were well aware that I had management experience and years of customer service experience. I was told to use the STAR method when answering questions in my interview which I did and always do. I was then called the following morning and notified that the interviewers did not like my answers and that I reflected my managers experience more than how I work myself. This is absurd and I was obviously disappointed. The position I had applied for over a month ago, which I am highly overqualified for and showed the necessary strengths for, had been given to someone else because I have too much experience. In my opinion they are hiring internally.

The interview is way too selective, way too selective for a customer service position. I guess they are so selective as about 500 people applied for this position. The interview is divided into 3 different stages. First stage is a test about general knowledge of maths, English language plus a typing test. If you pass the test you will be asked to attend a self recorded interview. If you are successful, you will attend the last interview with the hiring manager.
