Recruiter round, hiring manager and then 3 different rounds with essentially your squad.
Shocked that they straight up ghosted me after 3 weeks of commitment and hours on calls. No one will respond lol. Wouldn’t interview with them again. Must be like this internally too.

My interview experience with Zendesk was one of the strangest I have had.
According to the recruiter, I was considered one of the stronger candidates and my background was highly relevant for the role. However, the interview with the hiring manager felt unexpectedly short and rather formal. It lasted less than 30 minutes, and the overall atmosphere felt somewhat tense rather than inclusive or engaging.
Within that limited time, I was expected to summarize my experience and answer one very broad, abstract product question that could easily have been a full whiteboard exercise on its own. Unfortunately, there was no time left for my questions, which made it difficult to properly evaluate the role, the team, or the expectations.
Overall, the process felt unbalanced and not especially respectful of the preparation time required from candidates. Based on my experience, I would not consider it worth the amount of preparation I put into it.

Question 1
The most important question was about how I would approach evaluating AI agents at scale, assuming a large user base, a significant amount of user data, and multiple agents operating across different use cases.
I do not remember the exact wording, but I was given very little room to answer (essentially only one or two sentences) despite the question requiring a much more structured discussion.

The interview process was impressively comprehensive and moved at a great pace. The stages included a Hiring Manager screen, a "Level Up" session with a PM, a case study, a Technical Manager interview, a formal Panel Interview to present the case study, and final rounds with the Director and VP.
While the efficiency was top-notch, the experience would be even better with more transparent communication regarding the outcome of each specific round.
