Pretty straight forward and easy process.
First step was an intial 30 minute phone screen interview with the recruiter.
Next step was a 30 minute interview with one of the hiring managers.
Lastly, I was paired with two hiring managers and one account executive for 45 minutes each interview. All the folks who interviewed me were very nice and seemed like they enjoyed working at Zendesk. After my last interview, one of the managers instructed me to reach out to the team and found out what next steps were.
My negative review is largely in part due to the fact I never heard a single word back from Zendesk after following up to see about next steps.
I was pretty surprised an established company like Zendesk would leave a candidate dry after spending 3-5 hours of personal time going through the interview process. Upon reflection, I definitely am thankful things didn't work out and would not recommend anyone else to Zendesk based on this experience.
Bottom line: 100% okay with getting rejected for a position but respect and value people's time.

The interview process was straightforward. It was five rounds: the sourcer, recruiter, hiring manager, a colleague, and their superior (Director). It took a long time to break through the gatekeepers and gather momentum. Once I met with the hiring manager it went quickly from there.

Recruiter, panel, and final interview with hiring manager.
My recruiter was awful... she only responded to questions when it regarded scheduling next steps. The panel was fine but they all seemed unprepared for the interview. My final interview with the hiring manager was strange because he was focused on prepping for another meeting and asked really flat questions and didnt seem to care.

Terrible experience from start to finish. The morning of the interview, I happened to check my email to see that I had received an automated turndown from Zendesk, worded in a way that I had already had my interview and they simply weren’t moving forward with me. Considering the first interview wasn’t going to be for a few more hours, this was unusual. I contacted the recruiter who was supposed to be calling me to ask if this was a mistake, which he assured me that it was and there were still openings he thought I’d be great for.
The screening interview was pretty straightforward, with a few general questions and then explanation of the role, compensation, and what the rest of the interview process was. With the way it was phrased, the recruiter made it seem like I would get through the rest of the interviews easily with my experience and credentials, and that he would reach out the next day to set up the second interview.
It’s been almost two weeks now, and I never heard back. I emailed the recruiter to check in after a week, and still nothing. No call, no turndown, not a single bit of communication. For a job that requires excellent communication, they are definitely lacking in that area. Super disappointing considering I really thought the company would be a great one to work for.
