Interviewer could not comprehend that someone was looking to get into a company at the ground level and later transition into a software engineer position. "The typical path would be to promote to senior account manager, I just don't see how this fits into what you're looking to do". No matter how I positioned it, as soon as she knew my intent was to be with the company in a different capacity after getting hards on experience at the bottom it was as if I was talking to a brick wall. Before we got to that point, I believe I was very well qualified for the position I applied for and had every intention of learning about the company, the position, and getting all the front end experience before transitioning. Too bad.

I completed a phone screening, an online assessment, and then an hour long panel interview. I expected the interview to focus on my ability to perform the role, but instead, it felt like a critique of my past work experience. I was asked why I stayed at a particular role for so long. I was asked about a specific certification that had nothing to do with what I knew of the role. Overall, it just felt like a waste of time and that minds were already made up. Like perhaps they were forced to interview me, or were confused about my fit for the role. I would rather they just have skipped over my resume. Frustrating and time-consuming.
