      Entretien

Very poor interview with one of their Talent Acquisition Partners (I won't name her for confidentiality reasons). It was obvious she had no interest in her own company and no knowledge of the actual position she was interviewing for. Late to the interview (which I was fine with at first, but looking back, it was foreshadowing), not knowing about her own company's initiatives and policies that I took time to research and bring up for conversation along with where their office near me is located. Felt like she was just plain uninterested in the entire thing from the beginning. She then asked me to describe the acquisitions process. Easy, I had done this before. I work in acquisitions now. Got through that, and in the end, she said that they would require me to know how to do issue contracts, which I did...I am currently an intern, and while I cannot directly handle contracts, I've been shown step by step by my Senior Acquisition Editor and have full knowledge of the process. In any case, this job description did not say you needed ANY acquisitions experience - just a minimum 4-year bachelor's degree and standard soft skills. This is an Associate position, after all. It was just clear the Talent Acquisition Partner had not bothered to look at my resume/cv nor actually knew the position she was hiring for. In the end, it was clear she just wanted off the call after only 10 minutes. I was dumbfounded. I decided to make a report at the end directly to Wiley support as I would hate for anyone else to go through this. This was by far the worst interview I've ever gone through before, and feel that others in acquisitions should be wary. Update: Their manager has reached out to me and acknowledged my report, which I appreciate, and offered their information to connect with them directly & set me up with any future opportunities. While I won't take advantage of this now, perhaps once the dust has settled I'll feel differently. I'm not sure.
