The initial communication and all phases of the interview went fine. And I think I did pretty well in the interviews. I designed Minesweeper from scratch and wrote the algorithm for eventually playing the game but then they rejected me saying that I was not fast enough in terms of coding. I mean such a lame reason, a software engineering job is not just about how fast you code. You have got to look at the problem solving skills and if the candidates can look at all the corner cases and think over the design holistically. Not just write code fast. And do-not call it a design problem if you just want the coding/algorithm to be done faster. Such a lame reason for rejection. Never applying again. Such a waste of time.
