Applied for the role in December and got a phone call about it in Jan. Spoke with two recruiters and also the hiring manager. Everything was going good and they were very open woth answering all my questions. Was even invted to their networking event where I got to know their top brass. Interview questions were very generic focusing on my skills and past. Was invited to do a demo which was the last stage before another call and a final decision to be made internally. This was where communication which is key really let them down. During my demo preparation the recruiting manager mentioned that I should prepare a compelling story about the data I was using and focus on creating as much wow as possible. I was also told to read up on my competitor and be prepared for several objection questions as it was going to be a typical sales demo roleplay. I did as advised and also spent time playing with the software to understand it better. I should add that it was mentioned that my demo will be judged more on my style and skills rathet than the knowledge of the software. On the day of the demo things broke pretty badly. The demo team testing mentioned that they were more keen on my product knowledge rather than my style or selling skills. This was very very unlike what the recruiting manager had told me. It threw my off course and everything I had prepared went down the drain. Nevertheless it was a good experience and showed me just how software companies would want to sell. My only advice would be that the recruiting manager and the demo team should really have a clear transparent idea of what's going to happen and give more thought to the interview candidate who may or may not have experience in selling within the IT industry. If you judge a fish based on its ability to climb a tree it'll ultimately fail.

very rigorous and lengthy with multiple sessions and multiple people. was asked to do a product demo which was a lot of prep but easy enough ultimately but it was okay and I found it interesting
