Proceed with caution! They have no respect for your time. In a very unusual experience they had me sign an NDA before having any interviews. Whatever, I signed it and then they scheduled a one hour tech screen via Bluejeans. It was a pretty normal tech screen, I was asked some basic design questions and then asked to do a coding exercise. The interview went well and he gave me a take-home project. I took advantage of the opportunity and over a 48 hour period I built an amazing app that sparkled - fulfilling every specification they listed in the description, a working app, unit tests, UI tests, everything. I started to get annoyed when I hadn't heard back after ten days of submitting it. Eventually twenty days after submitting it I got a response that they'd like to schedule another remote interview for 2-3 hours where we'd pair program and go over my project. They sent some specific details about the next phase (and this is all just to get to the on-site interview) - they told me to come up with 2-3 different ideas of a new feature to built onto my project and that we'd work together to add it in the pairing session. I did that, I spent a couple hours and came up with some really good ideas and how to execute them. This is where the process really got sour for me. I finally get to the pair session, and it's not just me and one of their senior engineers pairing, but also another new hire that's just there on mute watching for training, not saying anything (I found it distracting). First the guy had me show him my project, walk him through my code, and explain it. I was really angry to find out that the guy hadn't even glanced at it before hand! He didn't even run it or browse through my code. Anyways so we moved to the next part where we were going to build out a new feature, so per the instructions I was given I showed him my ideas for the new feature and he stops me and goes "No! We're going to do this." - so the time I spent coming up with new feature ideas was a complete waste! We moved on to building out this new feature. This was INCREDIBLY frustrating, because the guy kept saying "there is no wrong answer or wrong way to do it as long as we achieve the desired result", but EVERY approach I'd come up with was wrong to him. He kept purposely throwing me off, and on top of that it started to feel like he was INTENTIONALLY giving me bad advice and leading me down a bad path to see if I'd catch it and recover, but when I would he wouldn't say "good I'm glad you caught that!", he'd just say "are you sure?" and instill some doubt within you while you're already under a serious time crunch. After wasting 45 minutes I finally got him to agree, and then after I'd get close to finishing what we set out to accomplish, he'd change the parameters of the problem which would completely throw a wrench in the way the code was designed. I kept finding myself having to go back and completely re-write code instead of actually just finishing what we were doing and giving something presentable. I do realize that it is important to know how someone thinks, and their ability to correct mistakes, backtrack, and design code that can be changed later on down the line, but when you only have a few minutes in a time-sensitive interview it's kind of strange to expect this level of perfection. Typically for an interview like this companies want to see that you can articulate your thoughts and ideas, write clean, maintainable code, and produce a working prototype. I always felt the on-site interviews were more where they should dive into these more advanced skills in software design and implementation. I couldn't help but feel like these people wanted perfection from the start in a remote interview. It really bothered me how he kept telling me that there was no wrong way to do things, that he just wanted to see how I thought and coded, but EVERY idea I came up with was the wrong way to do it. It was very uncomfortable and very frustrating. He kept changing the expectations of the feature and making me have to go back and at the end we ran out of time before I could produce what I intended to. After all that he said "that's okay, you know I think I got the idea, do you have any questions for me?" I could sense it was a no at that point, and I didn't think the process was fair at all, and it wasn't a good way to gauge your skills as a software developer. I got a standard rejection email a few days later and wasn't surprised. All that time wasted on doing a take home project, and doing it well, then the time spent prepping for the pair-programming session only to find out it wasn't even necessary AND that the guy didn't even look at my code! It was tantamount to a slap in the face! I wouldn't waste your time here, honestly. Read all the reviews on here - in my experience when you keep seeing negative reviews and people are all sharing similar stores, it's not because they're bitter, it's because their interview process is very poor!
