      Entretien

My first conversation was with a recruiter--and it pretty much set the stage for my overall experience with the company. She was very nice but either very junior or really just an admin asking questions off of a sheet of paper. She read them like a script and was unable to answer any of my questions. I worked with the hiring manager directly to schedule an interview only to arrive and learn she wasn't in that day. Yes-she scheduled an interview and then didn't come to work. It was not illness related and even then, professionals would call to reschedule prior to an applicant spending 45 minutes in traffic. No one from the department came down--the receptionist had to tell me that the manager's manager said she was out. After working through the interview finally, the position turned out to be much more elementary than the job req stated and the pay was not in line with even the low end of PM market value--this was a project coordination job at best. I acknowledge the value of that role, but disagree with hiring process that could only have copied the job req from another site without being able to speak to any of their desired skills. The interview itself was fine--good conversation with friendly people but the questions were not technical nor geared towards evaluating whether a person was a qualified PM. The parting discussion was a promise for a call within a week. I called the recruiter the next day asking for a return call. I wanted to close the loop and withdraw formally via a professional conversation but just never received a call back or any followup. It actually didn't surprise me as much as it should given the entire experience with Staples.

Interview process took 1 month. First recruiter call. Then Video interviews with 2 People. Then onsite with 4 people. Weird experience because they kept asking same questions and why leave my current company. Director didn’t even knew about her own company’s values. Recruiter and hiring manager ghosted me after interview. I mean don’t call candidate onsite if you are going to ghost. Very bad experience overall. Waste of time because I had to put in leave for my current job just to attend interview onsite and all this to get ghosted.

Recruiter round followed by hiring manager. Recruiter explains the basics and then hiring manager interviews for 30 minutes. If you pass then you go to onsite. Pretty much behavioral type

Worst Onsite Experience! I Interviewed Product Manager - PDP Position. The recruiter was super communicative and really good throughout the process. I also liked my conversation with the hiring manager very professional, clear, and overall a good discussion. But one of the onsite interviews was honestly frustrating. The guy came across pretty unprofessional and the way he asked questions felt a bit off almost condescending at times. He was asking very basic things like “what is product management” and even asking me to explain what’s in the job description. He also asked things like the name of the hiring manager and my degree name, which felt odd and not really relevant. Given I have 7+ years of experience, it just didn’t feel like a serious or meaningful conversation. And when I tried to ask about the team’s current challenges, instead of giving a proper answer, he responded in a sarcastic way saying something like “if there were no challenges, we wouldn’t be hiring,” which made the interaction even more frustrating. And honestly, with that kind of attitude and approach, I’m not sure how he got to a Senior Director, PM position. On the other hand, the other director (the woman) was great very professional, thoughtful, and the conversation felt relevant and engaging. Overall, some parts of the process were really good, but that one interaction definitely stood out in a negative way.
