Recorded interview with Hirevue, then a pre-screening call, then a Microsoft Teams interview lasting 30 minutes. Was told I wasn't selected because they wanted someone with full time availability, despite the fact that I was applying for a part time role listed at ~20 hrs/week.

Eyed a job before their hiring event was posted. Submitted an application through opening on their web site and then registered for the event once it was opened following their direction as to which one i was to attend. Attended round #1 hiring event which began with a short informational presentation and a paper application to confirm your availability, specific skills, and some personal questions. After the presentation we were called by a sales lead into another room where several one on one interviews were happening simultaneously. My one on one took probably 10-15 min. They asked a series of why and how based questions relating to the job. Very interested in your previous experiences no matter what it was. Curious about your commitment and interest in REI culture as a whole. My interviewee then left for a brief moment and came back with a green card which was an invitation to the group interview session scheduled to happen about a week later. Got a confirmation email for second interview session. Attended the group interview with 16 other candidates. Much more intimate setting so expect to be under the microscope of some really awesome and genuine REI folks! Started with an icebreaker introduction to the greater group. They took some time explaining more detailed aspects of the job, responsibilities, and opportunities that come with position. We were split into groups and were asked to come up with the next latest and greatest tent design and pitch it to the group. The next activity was to sell a pen to your partner. Then given a survival scenario we had to decide what 5 items from a list we would take. We were also asked to write a few greetings of store guests down on a slip of paper and submit it. Afterwards they asked for questions and wrapped up in the 1.5 hr time frame alloted. The initial round #1 group had approximately 200 applicants, the #2 group interview round had about 90 applicants, and it sounded like 20-25 positions were to be filled. I was offered the part time job 2 days later over the phone and accepted. I think most people, myself included dread the group interview but it was actually really fun so relax and just be yourself! It turns out the people that make it to that group interview stage are all pretty awesome so it's a pretty easy going crowd.
