It was my first interview ever. I was too nervous. My palms were clammy and when I shook the hand of the lady interviewing me she wiped her hand on her pants, which made me even more anxious. She asked me some questions that were typical but I did not expect as it was my first interview and I was under prepared. I took huuuuge pauses before answering some questions and bumbled over my words for other questions. It was obvious I made up answers on the spot for some questions. The whole time I knew I was sinking! The fact that I was obviously doing so bad just made me even more nervous and my forehead was sweating. I answered the questions specific to cosmetic sales well but I guess my answers to the other more vague questions could not be rectified. This lady was very unimpressed with me, haha. At the end of the interview she just closed her folder, said she'd forward my application to the manager of cosmetic sales, to expect a response by email soon, and goodbye. She gave me this paper thin smile that did not reach her eyes and I knew at that moment I was never going to hear from Macy's LOL. To top it off when I shook her hand again she had to wipe it away again. I just want to say that my interviewer was a bit rude, but maybe she would have been nicer if I had not messed up so much. I did end up hearing from Macy's a few days later...and I was not accepted, believe it or not lol.

I worked at Macy's in the late 2010s. The cosmetics manager asked me several questions. A few questions were difficult, like asking about what I would do if I saw a coworker stealing, but most were straightforward. She was also very respectful and supportive since I was unsure how to answer a few of the questions. They know that you need time to learn. Overall, it was a great experience for a beginner applicant.
