Enjoyed talking on the phone with recruiter and hiring manager.
After manager phone screen, was notified that an 8 hour at-home project would be required in order to progress beyond the phone interview. The project was, regrettably, uninspiring and not even about transportation -- or anything that got me genuinely excited about Lyft.
Had I known that, I would not have even spent the time applying or preparing for the first two interviews.
While I appreciate giving a relevant case study to applicants in the final stage (such as to present while being flown in for an on-site), it felt overly aggressively to be asking for such a commitment non-reciprocally at the initial stage.
Further, it's unclear why they couldn't have evaluated candidates' skills in a less onerous fashion, as their main talent competitors already do.
I withdrew my application.
