I applied online like a month before they contacted me by telephoning me and asking if I still wanted a job. I replied yes and was booked in for a group Assessment the next week.
At the group assessment there were about 11 people. We were sat in the staff dining room, and spoken to about the day, by three members of staff: what we were going to do. We were split into two groups and had to go out on to the shop floor and basically do the activities they set out.
There were three:
The first was to pick someone who inspires you fashion wise and we had 5 minutes to go around the store and pick out an outfit for them, we also had to be able to say why we picked out those items.
For the second task we were each given an item of clothing, and were told that a customer wants the item but for some reason it isn't available in store, so we had to find an alternative, for which we were given 5 mins as well.
The third and final task out on the shop floor was to do recovery. We were assigned sections of the shop floor and every so often the person managing the group would come round to see how you are doing for 20 mins.
Then we all went back to the room, and sat in a circle. We were told scenarios that could happen in store, and as a group we had to speak to each other and come up with what we'd do, and one person had to volunteer to speak for the group on what the final decision was. There were about 5/6 scenarios.
Finally, we split back into our smaller groups and had to say what our availability for the job is, and we were told that if we successful we would be given a call that day to book in an interview, if not we'd get a confirmation email within a few days.
I got a call back 2 hours later, asking when is be available for an interview. So the day after I had an interview, was told at the end of it that I'd got the job.
Overall, I'd say be yourself, they just want to figure you out: who you are as a person, what your personality's like, if you'd fit in really. So just be yourself, don't take it personally if you don't fit in, you just need to find a place where you will, and there's bound to be a place out there!
