1) Introductions with HR are straight forward background check. 2) Interviews with the general counsel and HR Director for Africa was similarly focused on background with some questions regarding experience in light of job requirements. 3) Interview with the MD for Africa was similarly more around background experience with some discussions around commercial aspects of the job and general commercial discussions regarding business. 4) Interview with regional counsels was focused solely on academic questions regarding competition law, international trade law and contract law. 5) Interview with GC for the group was difficult. This is were I slipped up when I indicated that my 5 year plan may involve progression from the department should an opportunity arrive. The meaning behind the answer was to indicate my willingness to get my hands 'dirty' in any department as may be required and progress in the group in any manner that would be mutually beneficial. Each of the previous interviews accepted the answer in very good light, while the GC seemed to have taken this as a waste of his time and there was no recovery after this.
