I was contacted quickly after my initial application by someone at HQ, who set up an interview at the job location. She ended up calling back and changing my time because of some scheduling conflicts, but other than that it was simple and pleasant.
I showed up for my interview and my interviewer was nowhere to be found. They apologized. I waited about 10 minutes and they eventually found her and we went to an interview room. She said that she had no idea that she had an interview that day and apologized. She asked very basic questions about my background and software experience, but when I began asking her questions about the position, she didn't even know which position I was interviewing for. I told her that it was a management position and she said it must be one of two positions on that team, so answered the questions as well as she could. The entire interview took maybe 20 minutes.
I got an offer maybe a week or two later for an associate position making less than half what I would have expected to make. I emailed them back to clarify that I was NOT being considered for the management position which I'd applied for, but that they were offering me a position of associate. They said yes, it was just for the associate position, and they had no abilities to work with the hourly rate.
