Not sure what good it would do to hurl criticism at one of, if not the biggest game company on the planet, but it's for that reason that I'm doing this. It's because when someone like me gets a call from Blizzard, it's a pretty momentous thing. It was an online call, as everything is right now, and I wore nice dress casual attire so as to rule out any professionalism. I also share that detail in order to give insight as to how much thought I actually put into the first phone call interview of the process, because it's difficult to ascertain now exactly why the process went the way that it went. I answered and was cordial, but professional of course, and was greeted the giant letter C which stood in place of any human being. As far as first impressions go, this immediately made the interview very one-sided. No reason was given as to why this technical recruiter was not going to show themselves. I decided any number of reasons could be why the person did not want to appear on camera, and thought it best not to ask. I do wish there had been an acknowledgement of the imbalance during the interview. It just felt as though I was only being set up to fail. He spoke a bit about the role and responsibilities. Mentioned that he could not disclose certain details. Naturally, with 10 years of experience, I assured him I understood the need for discretion. He told me that the interview would be much shorter than he initially anticipated and had a hard out at about 20 minutes from that time. He then just told me to talk about myself, my experience, he said he was just going to allow let me talk for a while. This was obviously strange, but, of course I was probably too enthused to think much more of it at that time. Nor did I think that someone at such a prestigious company would present so poorly during a job interview, but then he just muted and I was left to speak about myself without prompts for what felt like an eternity, but probably amounted to 5 minutes straight. So at this point in the interview I had ostensibly been asked to schedule time to speak to nobody. After about 5 minutes, the gentlemen comes back on to express dissatisfaction with some of my narrative. He took issue with my not discussing the specifics of some of the projects I had gone into detail about. He then told me that he had to leave, and so I had to hold all of my questions. He told me the next steps would be someone getting in touch the next week and that there would be an about 5-hour long interview. Braced me for a white boarding session, and a panel interview. The interview was on a Wednesday. I spent a good portion of the days that followed putting together a technical demo to submit before the code test. I received the following email on Sunday night: Mon, Sep 28, 3:05 AM to me Thanks again for giving us the opportunity to consider you for the position of Unity Developer - R002394. We regret to inform you that after careful consideration we will not be moving forward with your candidacy for this role. We will retain your candidate file in our database and may inform you of job openings matching your skillset if you selected this option. ... It then asks me to follow them on twitter and wishes me good luck in my job search. tl;dr Interviewed on a Wednesday. The technical recruiter did not appear on camera and did not ask any questions. I was told I would be given a code test. A rejection letter was sent to me without being given a code test.

No questions at all. He said "I'm just gonna let you talk about yourself for a few minutes. "

The process for me went like this: 1. Recruiter Call 2. Hiring Manager Call 3. Take Home HackerRank 4. 3 Panel Interviews back to back (1 hour each with a 30 minute break) A. Interview reviewing the HackerRank questions B. Subject Matter C. Culture fit The recruiting call was really straight forward, basically just told me what the interview process was like, and let me ask questions. The call with the hiring manager was a pleasure, we mostly just talked through my past experiences from my resume. The coding test seemed really fair, You got 2 hours to do it, and then the first panel interview was going through the answers, answering follow up questions, and walking though your thought process. There was no stressful live coding at all. HackerRank questions were a mix of coding and multiple choice, nothing beyond like a medium difficulty, but definitely focused towards game development. Subject matter interview is obviously going to depend on what you're interviewing for, but mine was basically walking through a variety of problems and how you might tackle them (no live coding here either). They were definitely testing my knowledge, but it felt more like a collaboration on how to handle different scenarios than a bunch of 'gotcha' questions I feel some places ask. The culture fit interview was with a producer and designer, and was mostly about you interact and take part in a team. Overall it was a great experience. The only negative I have is that the process took awhile. After the HackerRank, the next interview wasn't scheduled till almost a month later, but the recruiter was always responsive when I asked for an update.

went through like 8 interviews just to be told they already went with someone else. The Recruiter was amazing but the actual interviews themselves didnt seem interested or cared even if you do and show your willingness to be taught.
