I applied for a Sales Representative position advertised in two communities near my home. In my initial telephone screening, the "becoming a BVM publisher" program was outlined. As the conversation continued, it became evident that BVM was looking for new publishers in those communities, but in fact the advertised Sales Representative positions were not available. In my view, advertising a Sales position with the intention of finding a new publisher is a deceptive practice. It's disappointing because generally, the BVM reviews are pretty positive. I do recall seeing another Glassdoor review that was very similar to mine.

I had an interview with the company, but after learning that there is no base pay I couldn't accept. The risk/reward factor was too high for me. I was unsatisfied with the length of WHEN I'd see profit and worst of all, not being guaranteed pay. I didn't like how they kept mentioning that it costs $5000 to produce the magazine but constantly said not to worry about thay, like why would it matter if I didn't have to worry? Finally, when asked questions involving who my target audience was, they just kept saying to submit articles and they would choose the best ones. It's community bases but they don't tell you what they want form the community. You'll eventually reach the $3500 a month they use to advertise how awesome they are, but that won't happen for at least 6 to 8 months. Only the most driven will succeed here, as long as you can get 15 customers a month and keep constant contact with practically no supervision.

This interview was completely BS. Did not enjoy it whatsoever and they are not an organized company in the slightest. Felt like a scheme from start to finish. I would not recommend this company to anyone.
