The interview process was positive: the first round interview was very informal and I felt the interviewers were trying to get the best out of me. The second round was an in-depth presentation around an important topic in the business domain. I had a week to prepare, and an hour to present, followed by an hour of questions. I spend quite a long time preparing the presentation and that seemed to pay off. The questions I had in response to the presentation were insightful and difficult to answer, which is usually a good sign. In both rounds, the interviewers were able to openly answer my questions about the company processes and culture, and what, if anything, needed improving.

The recruitment team at Backbase is the best, they make you very comfortable during the entire process while also giving out subtle hints on what is expected in the next rounds and how to prepare for those. In total, I had 4 rounds: Round 1 - A discussion with the recruiter where he checked whether I would be a good fit for the company based on my current skills and communication. This was the point where I also asked a lot of questions, to decide whether the company will be good for my career growth. Round 2 - A deep dive discussion with the manager. After Round 2, a case study was sent to me via email, and I could decide on the timeline myself when I would be ready to present it. Round 3 - (This was not a rejection round) This was to clarify any doubts about the Case Study. Round 4 - The case study presentation to a panel. The feedback was surprisingly quick. I did not have to wait long to receive the final offer. Overall a positive experience.
