      Entretien pour Technical Program Manager

J'ai postulé en ligne. J'ai passé un entretien chez Audible

      Entretien

I applied online, got an email from a recruiter- had a phone screen with her followed by a phone screen with the hiring manager and then 4 onsite interviews. Everything was well set up and organized, I didn't have to wait when I arrived- they were ready for me. I thought I really clicked with the hiring manager and 2 other interviewers, one interviewer I just didn't hit it off with. As much as it would have been nice to get an offer, after my 'practice run' commuting for the interview, I decided I wouldn't have wanted to commute to Newark daily.

      Questions d'entretien [1]

      Question 1

Everything was behavioral based, 'describe a time when' type questions. A little frustrating because many just didn't apply. Some people are just pleasant and easygoing, and don't have disagreements with managers and peers to handle/overcome, or all of the obstacles typically in behavioral based questions.

J'ai postulé via la recommandation d'un employé. Le processus a pris 3 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez Audible (Newark, NJ) en sept. 2016

      Entretien

Phone call with interal recruiter, followed by 2 separate phone interviews, then a 5 hr face to face interview with 5 people (VP's and directors). I thought the interview went very smooth and got along very well with the interviewees, unfortunately an offer was. Or extended

      Questions d'entretien [1]

      Question 1

Questions were fairly straight forward, mostly related to previous projects, how did I handle issues or failures, what were my accomplishments, how did I manage communications and balancing business needs, etc. There were other more technical questions related to software architecture

I know a couple people at Audible and was referred there for a Technical Program Manager position. Passed a couple of phone screens which were straight behavioral interviews then was scheduled for in-person. I was asked to submit an essay picking from one of two essay questions, emailing my response at least 24 hours before the scheduled in-person session. Two essay choices were: a) Tell us about when you had to make a decision when not all the inputs were known. What was the background, what was your though process and reasoning, what decision did you come up with and what was the outcome b) Tell us about something you did that was innovative, similar to (a), give the background, process, results I wrote an essay about innovation. For the in-person I ended up meeting with 6 people + HR. These were behavioral interviews with a twist -- each of the 6 interviewers were following a theme: First had all questions about 'Customer Focus' Another had questions about 'Maintaining High Standards' Another had questions about 'Building and maintaining Trust' etc all tie back to Amazon Leadership Principals. There was one interviewer who was responsible for grilling me on the essay I wrote. All the interviewers were tough and grilled hard but were also generally fair. The interviewer asking me about my essay clearly did not like the example of innovation I gave in the essay and seemed predisposed to negative outcome. About a week after the in person interview I heard back from my friend who originally referred me -- no offer. The interviewing panel was split decision on whether to pursue me and as per their policy they have a preference to turn down a potential good hire to avoid a potential bad hire. They were on the fence with me and opted not to continue.
