One on one with Medical Affairs Director, followed by a group interview, presentation, and typical STAR fit interview.
The one on one involved very pointed questions with the ability to answer and elaborate. Both clinical and scientific questions, but mainly focusing on how my background will allow me to be successful in the role. Nearly no situational questions.
The group interview was all Personal Experience Interview questions (STAR).
The presentation was attended by the group, and they interrupted a lot - obviously, this was done to simulate the MSL/clinician interaction, and they challenged my assertions. They were clearly looking to see if I was comfortable under pressure and could handle interruptions. The topic of the presentation was not that important, rather they assessed my ability to connect with the audience and deliver a good presentation.

Initially, I was shortlisted and invited for an interview for the Medical Advisor – Oncology role. However, as directed by the interviewer, the interview was instead conducted for the Medical Science Liaison – Oncology position. Following that, I had a screening call for the MSL – Oncology role, which took place after the in-person interview. During this call, the interviewer merely acknowledged that the interview had already taken place.
Additionally, I have received no communication regarding the status of my application for the MSL – Rare Disease role—neither a screening call nor any email updates.
Furthermore, I was informed about the outcome of my application for the MSL – Oncology position via phone after I requested the feedback once this was not delivered as promised by the interviewer during an in-person interview, despite having completed the interview process.
I also want to highlight the following issues I encountered:
Lack of interviewer preparation: interviewer was not aware of my background as stated on the CV despite being shortlisted
Interview for the wrong role: The interviewer was not prepared for the intended role and conducted the interview for a different position.
Last-minute cancellation: The initial screening call was canceled without proper notification or explanation.
Overall, I have noticed a lack of clear communication and inconsistencies in the process related to my application. Given AstraZeneca’s reputation, I would have expected a more structured and professional approach to candidate interactions.
Additionally, the interview was confirmed at short notice 2 days prior to the actual interview. The interviewer had no specific information about the position.

The interviewer asked just about three very general questions. Asked about the university attended, the content of the role, and why the therapeutic area.

Invited for an interview and the person conducting the interview didn’t show up for the scheduled time on four separate occasions spanning the course of over a month. Very unprofessional and it was not communicated to me that they would not be moving forward
