An initial hackerrank, followed up by two technical phone interviews and one cross-functional interview. The hackerrank was fairly straightforward, with the two phone interviews after being mixed. The first interview was very pleasant, with a senior infrastructure developer that cared about the process and gave helpful guidance. The second was with an iOS engineer working from home who clearly did not want to be there; he gave a fairly simple question and then asked follow-ups. Many of his comments throughout the interview were more condescending than helpful. It seems as though the engineering culture varies here; the unenthusiastic nature of the second interview bummed me out. Cross-functional interview was very pleasant, though the conversation felt a bit one-sided in the barrage of "tell me about a time" questions. Through the whole process, I had a mostly positive experience with the recruiting coordinator and most of the interview process, but the second phone interview was a huge turn-off. Bummer for a company that markets itself as a host culture.
