Entretien pour Market Manager, Luxury Retreats

      11 mars 2018
      Candidat à l'entretien anonyme
      Montréal, QC
      Offre refusée
      Expérience négative
      Entretien moyen

      Candidature

J'ai postulé via la recommandation d'un employé. Le processus a pris 6 mois. J'ai passé un entretien chez Airbnb (Montréal, QC) en févr. 2018

      Entretien

I interviewed twice for the same position over a period of 5 months. The first time, I went through 3 rounds of interviews, everything was great and I was verbally assured that I would be hired for the position but they weren't sure whether they wanted me to join immediately because there was a lot of ambiguity about the company's future growth strategy after the acquisition by AirBnB. Finally after a month of back and forth email correspondence, they asked me to contact them again after 3-4 months when they'd recommence hiring. I was a little disappointed, regardless I decided to wait since I found the opportunity really exciting, especially because of Luxury Retreats' acquisition by Airbnb. After 4 months, when I saw that the position was open again, I got in touch with the Director, whom I had already interviewed with, to inquire about the opening. He responded promptly but asked me to resubmit my application online, and said that the hiring manager will contact me soon. Presuming that the processes must have changed, I proceeded as per what was asked of me. However, the hiring manager who contacted me was not the same one as the previous time, and I was extremely annoyed after our conversation, because the salary quoted to me this time was significantly lower than what I was told earlier; moreover, this person was not even aware that I had already gone through the entire interview process for the same position a few months ago. I don't know if there was any internal miscommunication, but after a couple of email correspondences, I was told that the base salary which was communicated to me earlier was not correct, and if that is an issue, then I have the choice of not proceeding ahead in the process. I found this quite unethical and a bit rude as well, this speaks a lot about the company's work culture (whether Luxury Retreats or Airbnb), and after weighing all pros and cons, I decided it wasn't worth it for me to move to a job which would pay me lower salary as compared to my current job. Hence, I declined to proceed ahead in the (re)hiring process, because it meant making a compromise on my values and skills. I wish Airbnb all the best in integrating LR into their business.

      Question 1

(When the hiring manager lacks relevant information) Why do you want to change your job if you've only been working there for 4 months?
