Avantages
Overall, my experience at Target has been very positive. The executives are understanding and willing to help if you don't understand something, and the people I've met have also been great at helping out when my workload is overwhelming. In particular, my store is great with maintaining great customer service, which is more that I can say about some of the oher Target stores I've been to in and around Chicago. It's a great company if you're looking for an entry level job or a a professional position in management or service.
Inconvénients
First off, the training they provide is only somewhat helpful to your knowledge about the store and store procedures. I'd say about 75% of my knowledge of the store comes from asking other employees/TL's and from personal experience over time. Only recently have they started to re-train all team members to get everyone up to par on store operations. I just get the feeling like, as a new employee, they let you out onto the sales floor knowing not too much. Secondly, because there are many different supervisors (LODs) and Team Leads coming in at different shifts, it's sometimes hard to get recognized - and even if you do, it's usually not communicated to the LODs. I'd recommend really getting to know ALL of the LODs at your store, and keep them happy. Don't brown-nose, but dont let them see when you're slacking off. This brings me to point three - wages. Every year you get an annual review - however, one of the Team Leads does it.Therefore, if you haven't worked with that team lead in the past - chances are he/she won't know what to say about you, even if you've wokred your butt off that past year, and will just mark you down as 'satisfactory'. Ergo your wage increase will be slim. So, overall biggest challange at Target is keeping up with all the people you have to impress to move up the corporate chain.
