Avantages
Being able to work in Austin, TX is a great benefit. At times there are breakthroughs in management that allow you to make significant beneficial change for the company. The new campus in Austin is great. The culture is laid back and allows you to take personal time (generally) to have a good work-life balance.
Inconvénients
There is no culture of "management" within AMD; for the majority of managers, directors, and VPs appear to be good administrators but have no concept of how to inspire or lead people that report to them or communicate effectively. Salaries and raises appear to be trending downwards, even for top performers. Top performers get stock grants and restricted stock units, which don't mean much when the overall market value is so low.
