nCino's Diaspora Affinity Group recently unveiled a portrait of John C. Dancy, a prominent Black politician, journalist and educator from the 1800s, that will be displayed at our Wilmington HQ. The portrait, “Chess Over Checkers,” was commissioned by Initiative 1897, an organization using artwork and community dialogue to examine the inequities that people of color have faced. We are honored to display this portrait for our employees and visitors to see every day and be reminded of our nation’s history. In purchasing this artwork, we hope to contribute to the continuum of change that Initiative 1897 is dedicated to.
“This group has been instrumental in me coming out—not just as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, but as a whole, realized person," said Emily Shull, member of nPride and Software Engineer at nCino. nPride, one of nCino's affinity groups, aims to provide support and educational opportunities to LGBTQIA+ employees and allies. As part of their Pride Month celebrations, the group sponsored a drive-in movie at our Wilmington HQ and hosted a panel discussion on intersectionality representation! "The Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Alliance has allowed us to meet coworkers from across the globe that we would not necessarily get to interact with otherwise,” said Christine Roz Williams, Content Marketing Specialist. “It’s really special to see how we are making a difference at nCino and impacting the company’s vision and efforts when it comes to diversity, equity and inclusion.” In honor of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, we’d like to highlight our AAPI Alliance affinity group. As with all nCino’s employee-led affinity groups, the AAPI Alliance is centered around building a diverse community within the company and fostering a positive environment in which employees feel empowered and valued. The AAPI Alliance hosts events throughout the year to celebrate their heritage, educate employees about their culture and ultimately foster a strong AAPI community within the organization.
