"Lisa cares about everyone and everyone's success, she works hard to have a balance between her military family life and work life but is always available anytime a team member needs her, she always answers the call. Lisa not only acts as a leader, but also as a friend, a counselor, and problem solver- whether for business or someone's personal challenges. Lisa has also taken money out of her personal account to show appreciation for her team members without letting anyone know she does this. She has a genuine concern for over 75 employees in 8 stores, some of which are over 5 hours away from her."
Sport Clips Haircuts has worked to establish itself as a reliable choice for men’s haircuts nationwide. For some franchisees, owning a store and managing a team of stylists is second nature because they got their start as stylists or barbers themselves.
The Sport Clips Haircuts Artistic Team recently debuted its 2023 Collection, a custom compilation of trending hairstyles geared to men and boys. The release happens every two years for inspiration and training as a part of the specialized, ongoing education designed for professional stylists within the Sport Clips system. Coaches received hands-on training for these looks at Sport Clips National Huddle in the spring and are now incorporating the techniques into their class offerings in markets around the country and in Canada.
Sport Clips understands and embraces the creativity, passion and diversity of its Team Members. We are thrilled to be ranked by Comparably in three categories: Best CEOs for Women, Best CEOs for Diversity and Best Company for Career Growth.
“The Look” competition invites Sport Clips Haircuts professional stylists to vie for a coveted Top Six finalists’ spot to unleash their creativity on stage before the thousands gathered for the franchise's annual Huddle. This year’s theme “Bald to the Wahl®” threw down the challenge to create those clean fades popular with so many Sport Clips clients using clippers. As the nation's leading haircare franchise dedicated to men and boys, The Look drew entries from stylists who are “the pros in men’s hair” from all parts of the U.S. and Canada.
Thirty years and growing, Sport Clips Haircuts National Huddle this year celebrated the franchise’s talented stylists across the country and in Canada, as well as the professionals who support the system’s 1,900 locations. With 3,000 team members on site for the “Pro in You”-themed event, President and CEO Edward Logan welcomed the crowd to Sport Clips’ home state of Texas, congratulating them on being a part of some of the company’s most successful years to date.
Something new is happening at the Sport Clips Haircuts National Huddle this year, it’s Sober Pros – opportunities for those living sober lifestyles to meet, enjoy activities together, and support one another in zero-proof harmony. Sport Clips is stepping up and offering what many businesses overlook – the need to provide safe spaces for team members who struggle with substance use disorders.
“Nobody Cares What You Know Until You Show That You Care”: An Interview with Julie Vargas, VP of Career Opportunity & Talent Engagement at Sport Clips Haircuts Julie Vargas, vice president of career opportunity & talent engagement at Sport Clips Haircuts, grew up in a “little bitty” town in West Texas, and didn’t begin thinking about a career in the beauty industry until her high school launched a cosmetology program. “Going into my senior year, that could be one of my electives – and I chose it,” she recalls. “My friends and I thought, ‘Cosmetology; are you kidding? That’s going to be so much fun.” That sense of fun has defined Julie’s approach to her entire career. It also helped power her journey to the top of Sport Clips, the nation’s leading men’s and boys’ hair care provider and the only one with locations in all 50 states and parts of Canada. And it is a sentiment that motivates each of the thousands of team members who her team hires, trains, and mentors throughout their time at the company.
After being in the business for 30 years, we understand stylists. We know you’re creative but understand the importance of following a system. You’re independent but like being part of a team. You’re hard-working and put in the effort to fine-tune your professional skills.
