In Sussex, Wisconsin, a piece of land mapped with wetlands and hydric soils wasn’t a good match for a planned subdivision. Instead of pushing forward, the site was turned into the Hickory Hills Mitigation Bank, giving the area a chance to be restored and opened to the public. Now you can see native wetland and upland plants filling in, and neighbors are able to walk, hike, and enjoy the space. Our team reviewed the site conditions and recommended the shift, helping the land be used in a way that fits its natural environment. What started as a challenge is now becoming a place for the community to learn and explore. 🌲
