Looking back, she reflects: “Things had not yet returned to normal, but we pulled together as a team and persevered. In doing so, we laid the groundwork for the success we’re experiencing today.” Marine is responsible for managing the Pearl Lounge at KGL, where she oversees the delivery of first-class services to customers and steers the lounge’s business development strategy. “Interacting with a diverse range of stakeholders is among my favourite parts of the role,” Marine says. “Additionally, I take great pride in watching my team reach new heights every day.” 💪 Asked to name a memorable project at Menzies, Marine points to the launch of the new Pearl brand, which includes the redesign of our network of more than 50 Pearl Lounges. “This revamp will see the passenger experience taken to the next level,” she says. 👋 Say hello to Lewis Lyall, Airside Assistant at Edinburgh Airport (EDI). Lewis joined Menzies two years ago and credits his role with helping him grow both professionally, and personally. “People have commented on how I’ve become more confident since starting at Menzies,” Lewis says. “Over the past two years, I have been constantly learning new skills and even helping new starters. It really has done wonders for my self-confidence.” 🚀 Bringing a unique perspective to everything he does, Lewis has a mild form of autism, and we’re proud of the welcoming and inclusive culture that encourages him to thrive. “I can’t emphasise enough how everyone has helped me fit into the team. The work environment and culture at Menzies allows people like me to thrive,” Lewis reflects. “I'm even going to all the staff nights out, something I never thought I would do!” he says. 💙 Outside of work at EDI, Lewis enjoys exercising at the gym, running, hillwalking and hiking. 👋 Say hello to Ancuta Teodorescu, Service Delivery Manager at Iași International Airport (IAS) in Romania. Ancuta joined Menzies Aviation as a Passenger Service Agent over eight years ago and has since been promoted to Service Delivery Manager. In her day-to-day role, Ancuta is responsible for ensuring that the quality of service provided by Menzies meets a high standard. Reflecting on her favourite moments at Menzies, Ancuta says: “There’s a real sense of anticipation watching the sun rise over aircrafts on the ramp at the start of the day. Equally, at the end of the day, there is a satisfaction to working hard as a team to ensure the safe and timely departure of a day’s flights.” 🌇 With IAS being located right on the border with Moldova, Ancuta’s recounts her most memorable period at Menzies, helping refugees cross the border into Romania. “Things changed overnight, it was truly humbling to welcome refugees into Romania.” 💙 Outside of work, Ancuta unwinds by visiting new places and going on mountain hikes. ⛰ Thank you, Ancuta for your unwavering dedication to excellent customer service! 👏 #MenziesAviation #PeoplePassionPride #MyMenzies
We’re very proud of a group of Menzies colleagues who recently completed a swimathon, raising thousands for a very worthy cause. 🏊♂️ Seven employees based at airports in Romania swam over 3,000 metres between them at the Otopeni Swimming Complex – equivalent to the length of 41 Airbus A380s. ✈️ This impressive effort was in aid of a programme called ‘One Village, One Child,’ which offers educational support to gifted children from disadvantaged backgrounds. We’d like to congratulate Sergiu Todoran, Lucian Conon, Dan Moiceanu, Mihaila Mircea, Cristian Ionescu, Dumitru Negoita and Otava Razvan, who between them raised €2,000 for this life-changing initiative. 👋 Say hello to Gerry Duffett, Cargo Systems Manager at Heathrow Airport (LHR) who this month celebrates an extraordinary milestone: 35 years at Menzies Aviation. “My driving force over the last 35 years is to ensure cargo has the focus and recognition it deserves, and to make our systems the market leader,” Gerry says. “We focus a lot on aircraft turns and passenger numbers, but as we found during Covid, cargo is an important part of our business.” 📦 Looking back at his impressive tenure at Menzies, Gerry’s career highlight is seeing the Menzies Aviation Cargo Handling (MACH) cargo management system going live. “I have many highlights to choose from but witnessing MACH going live for the first time has to top the list,” Gerry explains. “The system started life on a single presentation in a workshop, and 10 months later was supporting cargo movements across the world.” “35 years ago, I started a warehouse job in an industry I knew nothing about. Now, I’m running projects and implementing systems around the world. Our Global winner for Safety & Security in 2024 is Gabriel Burke, who took the title for spotting and reporting suspicious luggage leading to one of the largest customs seizures of contraband at London Luton. Speaking about the win, Gabriel said: “I was really surprised to have been given this amazing award from Menzies. 👋 Say hello to Alex Niculici, Handling Manager and De-Icing Coordinator at Timișoara Traian Vuia International Airport (TSR) in Romania. Alex is responsible for both de-icing operations as well as overseeing our Front of House and Operations teams at the airport, ensuring the smooth and safe delivery of our ground handling services. His busy role also sees him training employees across a variety of functions. 👨🏫 Alex is particularly proud of becoming a member of the Menzies GO team, a group of employees ready to be deployed for short-term assignments across our global network. “Being asked to join the GO team was an honour. I felt it recognised my contribution to Menzies over many years,” Alex says. His position in the GO team has seen him work in Spain, Cyprus, Serbia and several other locations across Europe.🌍 Asked what he enjoys most about working at Menzies, Alex says: “It’s all about the People, Passion and Pride.
